My name is Chris Garvey, everyone calls me “Garv”…a friend to most, a father of two girls, and a husband for nearly 30 years.
My journey to needing a kidney transplant started six years ago when I was bit by a Brown Recluse spider. The health implications of the bit resulted in my urgent need to be matched with a kidney donor and transplant today. Tim is not on my side! Nationally, more than 100,000 people are on the deceased donor list. People wait years and many die while they are waiting because dialysis can be as short as five years as a solution. Dialysis is a life support system and only part of the treatment for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
I still have much more to accomplish in this life and want to see my daughters marry, have children and grow old with my wife. We ask that you help get the word out. Receiving a kidney from a living donor greatly increases the chances the life expectancy and lasts twice as long as a deceased donor.
Become an organ donor or better yet an advocate for organ donation. Make sure everyone in your family checks the box for organ donation on their drivers license and save someone’s life.
Thank you for your consideration
Thank you to Mark Loundas, Michele McCaffray and Looney's Pub for hosting the Padonia Station Reunion to benefit #Kidney4Garv. All proceeds raised will help to offset transplant cost the donor may incur (e.g., travel, loss of work, etc.) It was an amazing event! s something exciting your business offers? Say it here.
THANK YOU for all your support at the #KIDNEY4GARV event.
